Man with AK-47, 'Scream' movie mask arrested near RNC
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 21-year-old man was arrested near the Republican National Convention after authorities say he was carrying a concealed weapon along with a "Scream" movie mask, flashlight, two sets of black gloves and spray paint.
According to a criminal complaint, Monday afternoon, July 15, United States Capital Police patrolling the convention exterior zone observed a man wearing a black ski mask and carrying a large black tactical backpack. The man was observed walking away from an RNC security checkpoint near 11th and Highland.
The complaint says an officer made contact with the man -- identified as 21-year-old Donnell Tinsley of Milwaukee -- and asked him for consent to search his backpack.
Officials say inside the backpack they found an AK-47 pistol, a fully loaded magazine, a "Scream" movie mask, flashlight, black gloves with rubber fingertips, sunglasses, a security uniform shirt, and two cans of spray paint.
It was determined Tinsley did not have a concealed carry permit and he was taken into custody.
Tinsley is charged with one count of carrying a concealed weapon.
He's due in court for an initial appearance July 17.
