Police arrest man after pursuit, crash at Hale Interchange

NEW BERLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 38-year-old East Troy man was arrested by New Berlin police after a pursuit and crash earlier Friday, Oct. 17. 

Officers tried to stop him initially at a gas station parking lot near W. College Ave. after he was called in as a possible intoxicated driver. The man sped off in his vehicle as officers arrived. 

New Berlin police pursued him along I-43 towards Milwaukee. He subsequently crashed into a concrete barrier and went off the roadway at the Hale Interchange. 

The driver than ran from the vehicle but was located and arrested a short time later. 

He was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries relating to the crash. No officers were injured. 

Northbound traffic was slowed down as a result for about two hours.
