MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 25-year-old Milwaukee man has been charged in connection with a police chase that ended in a crash injuring a 79-year-old driver Monday, Aug. 10, according to a criminal complaint.

Gavin Luckett faces four charges, including fleeing an officer resulting in bodily harm, second-degree recklessly endangering safety, hit and run causing great bodily harm and obstructing an officer.

The complaint notes that officers tried to stop Luckett near 51st and Hampton after he ran a red light and nearly struck oncoming traffic. Luckett allegedly accelerated instead of stopping, leading to a nearly 2.3-mile pursuit that reached speeds of around 65 mph through residential streets.

The chase ended when Luckett ran a stop sign and struck a vehicle driven by the 79-year-old woman, causing damage to her car and a third, parked vehicle, the complaint states. She was taken to Froedtert Hospital, where she was diagnosed with multiple broken ribs and a bruised lung.

Luckett ran from the car and was caught after a foot chase, according to officials.

He was on extended supervision through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections at the time of the incident. His initial court appearance was Thursday, Aug. 13.

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A police chase in Milwaukee ended with one person arrested and another in the hospital Monday, Aug. 10. 

The police department says officers tried to stop a reckless driver near 60th and Hampton around 5:38 p.m., but the driver took off and a chase began. After running a stop sign, police say the driver crashed into another vehicle near 76th and Ruby.

Officials say the driver, a 25-year-old man, got out of the car and ran but was arrested after a brief foot chase. 

Milwaukee police say the 79-year-old driver of the struck vehicle was taken to an area hospital with non-fatal injuries.

Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office for review.
