Police: Two Racine men arrested after stabbing incident in Mt. Pleasant

MT. PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) --- Mt. Pleasant police arrested two Racine men after a stabbing incident Saturday, May 8.

According to police, officers responded to the 100 block of S. East Frontage Road for a reported shooting at 12:10 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers learned the involved parties fled the area. Police later identified the suspects as Antonique Carter, 26, and Rashad Lewis, 30, both from Racine.

Police say the investigation determined that a verbal altercation escalated when Carter accessed a knife and stabbed Lewis. Both subjects then fled the scene.

Around 6 a.m., police say officers responded back to the area of Hospitality and East Frontage for a suspicious activity complaint. Police say Carter and Lewis were located inside a car. Carter was arrested and Lewis was transported to a local hospital for a non-life threatening stab wound. Once released from the hospital, officials say Lewis was then arrested.

Police say both subjects were transported to the Racine County Jail. Carter is being held on attempted homicide and bail jumping and Lewis is being held on disorderly conduct (domestic abuse) and bail jumping.
