Police respond to crash involving MCTS bus, MPD motorcycle officer near 35th and North

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that happened near 35th and North on Tuesday, Aug. 1. 

Police say just before 11:30 a.m., a driver disregarded a red light causing a collision with another vehicle. The impact of the crash caused one of the vehicles involved to collide with a Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus that was stopped at the light. Police say the second vehicle involved in the crash collided with a Milwaukee Police Department motorcycle officer stopped at the light. 

The driver who disregarded the red light and caused the crash -- a 33-year-old man -- fled on foot but was later arrested. 

The MPD officer, a 38-year-year-old man, was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the bus, a 57-year-old woman and an occupant of the bus -- a 68-year-old woman -- were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-fatal injuries. 

Criminal charges are being referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
