Police squad car involved in rollover crash in Caledonia

CALEDONIA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- According to a press release from the Caledonia Police Department, a preliminary investigation into this crash reveals that a Caledonia Police Officer was traveling northbound on STH 32/Douglas Ave in pursuit of a speeding car doing about 90 mph in a 45-mph zone on Saturday, July 8 around 2:42 p.m.
Cars ahead of the officer were pulling over to the right.
A white SUV traveling northbound on the same road started to make a left turn onto Harvest and drove right into the path of the pursuing officer.
The officer collided with the SUV resulting in the officer's car rolling over onto its roof.
A fire started under the hood and the car became fully engulfed in flames.
With help from good Samaritans, the officer was able to get out of the car before the fire spread to the passenger side.
The officer sustained only minor injuries while the adult woman who was driving the SUV along with an adult male passenger were not injured.

CALEDONIA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A scary scene in Caledonia this afternoon.
A police squad car was involved in a rollover crash and caught fire at about 2:30 this afternoon near Harvest Lane and Douglas Road.
There were no injuries.
The State Patrol is handling the investigation.
