President Biden to campaign in Madison Friday

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- President Joe Biden will travel to the battleground Friday to hold an event in Madison, a campaign official confirmed to CBS 58.

Biden's visit comes on the heels of a shaky debate performance last week as he tries to convince skeptical voters that he can serve another four years.

The president was mulling campaign events in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania this week after Democratic governors discussed in a private meeting Monday "deep consternation" about not hearing from Biden since his debate performance, the New York Times reported.

No additional details about Biden's visit have been released.

It will mark his fifth visit to the state this year. Biden previously held an event in May to announce the expansion of Microsoft's data center in Mount Pleasant.
