Racine County firefighter killed in motorcycle crash near Alpine Valley

Max and his wife Caitlin were married around a year ago and were expecting their first child.
The Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation has set up a scholarship fund for the baby's future education.

WALWORTH COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An investigation is underway after a motorcycle crash that killed a 31-year-old motorcyclist.
The crash occurred just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, on County Highway D and Townline Road at the entrance of Alpine Valley in the Town of Lafayette.
According to the Walworth County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrived on scene and attempted lifesaving measures on the driver, identified as Maxwell Bayer, from Franksville, Wisconsin.
Bayer was transported to the East Troy Municipal Airport for an awaiting Flight for Life helicopter; however, he was pronounced deceased at the airport.
Bayer served as a firefighter for the City of Racine Fire Department and the Raymond Fire Department, according to the sheriff's office.
The driver of the automobile involved in the crash is a 17-year-old boy from Eagle, Wisconsin. Officials say he is fully cooperating with the investigation.
