RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Racine Habitat for Humanity hosted their third annual Women Build event, an event where a number of women help build a home for a single mother.
The recipient of this year's Women Build event was Carolina Galvan, a single mother of a 2-year-old.
"Having something of your own is just empowering, you know it's yours. You get to do what you want with it. For me this is going to establish some stability," Galvan.
Racine Habitat for Humanity along with employees Burn Boot Camp, InSinkErator, Reed Switch Developers and Co-Presenting Sponsors CNH Industrial and Merz volunteered to make Galvan's dream come true.
"The women here are involved in this because we know the importance of establishing home ownership, the building of community and just being a part of a community in helping in which we work," said Aquanetta Lewis of CNH Industrial and Merz.
The event lasted from July 31 through August 4th where more than 100 women volunteered.
"We started the program because 60 percent of our active homeowners are single moms, so we wanted to give something, start an event for women," said Johvana Gomez of Habitat for Humanity.
