Racine man arrested for burglary after leaving behind bottle of tequila

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Racine man has been arrested and is facing charges after allegedly burglarizing a man's home in December of 2017.

Michael Stelter, 29, is facing charges of Misdemeanor Theft, Burglary of a Building or Dwelling, and Drug Possession charges.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim called the police to report that his home, located on Broadleaf Drive in Caledonia, was burglarized while he was away for a while. The victim said that the suspect took a wireless camera, a gun safe, a small gold ring, a mini recorder, a hard drive, a laptop, and some money.

The victim found a bottle of Cabo Wabo tequila on the railing of the deck that was not his. Fingerprints and DNA swabs from various items, including the bottle of tequila, were tested and Stelter was identified as the suspect. 

Officers recovered some of the stolen items from the home that Stelter was staying at.
