Jacob Kittilstad is looking ahead to the Democratic primary for candidates seeking to fill the Wisconsin Assembly seat left vacant by Cory Mason. Decided by a coin flip – Jacob first introduced viewers to Greta Neubauer. She has a history in politics and community organizing in Racine. She’s worked at the capitol as well as at her own non-profit focused on training young people how to get engaged in the political process. Click here for more information on her campaign
Next viewers learned more about city Racine District 3 Alderman John Tate II. He says he got involved in the election after seeing a recent analysis calling Racine the fourth worst place in the United States for African Americans (based on economic disparity and unemployment). Tate has a background in social work and says that services for people who are struggling continue to be threatened. Click here for more information on his campaign
State Senator Van Wanggaard then joined Jacob in-studio to reflect on notable legislative accomplishments from the last year. The largest focus was on the Foxconn deal – and how the development could change the culture of the county in the long run. Jacob also asked Sen. Wanggaard about how some big issues might play out next year at the state level. Click here to check out with Sen. Wanggaard has been up to
Last, Jacob highlighted the work of the City of Racine Police Department and the Village of Mt. Pleasant Police Department – specifically related to their continuing work keeping the K9s trained. Weekly exercises hone the dogs’ abilities to locate narcotics and other items. In addition, the K9s practice what to do when they are ordered to make a ‘grip’ (or – in simple terms - a bite).
