Racine & Me: Local Teen’s 'Thriller: Reimagined' Music Video Goes Viral

RACINE, WI (CBS 58) -- A Racine County teen is getting major attention online for his creative twist on one of the most iconic music videos of all time — Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

Grayson Kirch says his love for video production started when he was a kid, making home movies with friends and cousins. That passion recently led him to take on his biggest project yet: recreating “Thriller” — with a modern, local spin.

“When I had the idea to do it, I immediately reached out to my friends who I’ve been making videos with forever,” Kirch said. “Then I asked a friend on the dance team if they’d want to be part of it — and they were so excited.”

Planning began in July, with casting and choreography taking shape over the summer. Filming ran from early August through late September — a months-long effort that Kirch calls “a very long but exciting process.”

When the video debuted, the reaction was bigger than anyone expected. Within days, “Thriller: Reimagined” had been featured in multiple news articles and surpassed 100,000 views online.

Now, Kirch is keeping the momentum going. A behind-the-scenes look at the making of “Thriller: Reimagined” is coming soon to his YouTube channel — and he’s already working on his next project, a Christmas music video set to release in December.
