Racine & Me: Mango Languages, Sound Studio and more at Racine Public Library!
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Nick Demske is the Executive Director of the Racine Public Library, and he joined us in studio to discuss what the library has to offer the community.
- Demske released the following information prior to the segment:
- We’re excited to share the launch of mango languages, an online language learning platform. This user-friendly app makes language learning fun and easy for all ages. It offers 70+ languages and dialects, including Spanish, French, Mandarin, asl, a selection of endangered indigenous languages, a language-learning video series for kids called little Pim, English courses for over 20 languages, and much more. This service is available for free to all Racine Public Library and prairie lakes library system cardholders.
- Jessica Macphail sound studio: The Jessica Macphail audio and podcasting studio is now open! Book the studio for a soundproof place to record music, voiceover and other audio. The studio is available by appointment only—to schedule your visit, call (262) 619-2560. A library card is not required to use the studio.

Resource Wednesdays - Point person: Ashley Cedeño - library social worker
Nonprofit organizations that serve the Racine area are invited to the Racine Public Library’s upcoming Resource Wednesdays sessions. Beginning Feb. 5, Resource Wednesdays will take place on the first and third Wednesday of every month in 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The list of dates for the first quarter of the year will be:

Are you an author based in Racine or in the surrounding areas? You’re invited to present at our 2nd Annual Local Author Showcase! The showcase is a great chance to meet new readers, network with fellow local authors, and promote your work. Authors are invited to sell their work during the event. This year’s event will be held Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. To apply to participate, visit RacineLibrary.info/author-form-2025.
Winter closures- Local Author Showcase
- The Racine Public Library Bookmobile will close for its winter maintenance on Monday, Dec. 23, 2024. It will reopen for its normal schedule on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. During the closure, holds requested for pickup at the Bookmobile will be rerouted to the library’s building.
- The Racine Public Library building will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024. The building will reopen for its normal hours Thursday, Dec. 26 through Monday, Dec. 30, 2024. The building will close again on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024 and Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025 before reopening for its normal hours on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. Social services and phone support will not be available during building closures.
