Racine & Me: Meet Acoustic Blu
NEXT:

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A new duo joined Racine & Me on this week's Ra- Sing & Me.

Dale Parkinson & Penny Laferriere of Acoustic Blu came in studio to perform.

They're a husband-wife duo playing in the Southeast Wisconsin/Greater Milwaukee area. Their home base is in Ozaukee County. Penny has been singing since about the age of seven. Her mother was also a singer, so music has always been part of her life. She grew up listening to everything from old-school Country to Classic Rock ‘n Roll, with a good dose of Broadway and Jazz Standards along the way. She loves covering tunes by great ladies like Patsy Cline and Janis Joplin.

Penny’s mom lost her battle with cancer in 2013, and singing these songs is very much a tribute to her memory. Dale has been playing guitar since he was about 14 years old and has been a Beatles fan since age four!

His mom tried teaching him accordion when he was young - to no avail. His influences include Jimi Hendrix, The Ventures, Dick Dale, Stevie Ray Vaughan, as well as rock and country greats like Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly and Johnny Cash. Dale knows a bit (A LOT) of Beatles trivia and likes to regale audiences with interesting facts and stories. Acoustic Blu has been together for about 10 years and plays as a duo, trio (with a bass player) and also as a full band with bass/drums when they creatively change their name to Electric Blu. You can check out Electric Blu this Saturday night, October 29th, at The Annex at Foxtown Brewing in Mequon.

Dale & Penny have several Acoustic Blu Duo gigs coming up in November & December - you will find their full schedule on Facebook! They also play charity and private events - send them an inquiry!
