Racine Zoo participating in #GivingZOOday to fund conservation and care
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Supporting zoos and conservation programs is crucial for wildlife preservation. Racine Zoo is stepping up its efforts by participating in #GivingZOOday on Tuesday, Nov. 28, aiming to bolster funds for animal care and conservation initiatives.
This day of giving is a chance for the community to play a direct role in the stewardship of environmental and species protection.
#GivingZOOday, aligned with #GivingTuesday, highlights the significant role zoos and aquariums play in community engagement and species conservation. Contributions to Racine Zoo during this event will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $7,500, thanks to the RUUD Family Foundation and Educators Credit Union.
According to a press release issued by the zoo, funds will go towards maintaining Racine Zoo's standards of animal care and supporting its conservation programs.
Racine Zoo is home to over 300 animals and is accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, and has been part of significant research projects, including the American Institute of Rhinoceros Science's Research Project, and is the proud caretaker of the oldest African penguin in an AZA-accredited zoo.
Anyone interested in supporting the zoo's mission can contribute online at racinezoo.org/givingzooday or by mailing a donation to the Zoo at 200 Goold Street, Racine, WI 53402. All donations are tax-deductible.
