Racine Zoo previews springtime event lineup
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Beth Heidorn, Executive Director of the Racine Zoo, joined us on Monday, Feb. 26 to take a detailed look at the zoo's March calendar of events.
They are set to host a Hiring Day event on Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., aiming to fill various part-time seasonal positions including roles at the Gift Shop, Grill, Train, Facilities, Special Events and The Watering Hole Snack Shop. The zoo seeks individuals over 15 years of age who are motivated and capable of creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests. On-location interviews will be conducted at the Zoo Administration Office, located at 200 Goold Street.
In a celebration of Wisconsin’s classic cocktail, the Racine Zoo will hold the “Call Me Old Fashioned” event on Wednesday, March 20 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Attendees, who must be 21 or older, will enjoy a cozy evening sampling Old Fashioneds, hors d’oeuvres by Red Onion Cafe and the chance to meet an ambassador animal. Proceeds from the event support the animals and programs of the Racine Zoo.
The zoo is also preparing for the Eggstravaganza on Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., inviting families to an Easter-themed day. The event features a hunt for Cluck-Cluck doors, a Trunk Hunt with local businesses, cookie and egg decorating, crafts and photos with the Easter Bunny. Activities are included with regular Zoo admission and free for Zoo members.
To liven up spring break for kids across the area, the zoo is also offering a Spring Break Camp from April 1-5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to offer children the opportunity for encounters with animals, daily crafts and hands-on learning opportunities for grades K-5. Enrollment is limited.
