Radar-confirmed tornado hits Sussex, leaving significant damage
SUSSEX, Wis. (CBS 58) -- We're seeing major storm damage in the Sussex-Lisbon area where a radar-confirmed tornado touched down Tuesday night.
Just west of Highway 164, huge piles of debris were seen scattered throughout a warehouse parking lot. Pieces of a nearby building have been ripped off, and dozens of trees are down.
Across Highway 164, extensive damage can be found near the Lisbon Presbyterian Church. Several power lines are down, and a line of at least eight trees in a row are uprooted.
"Someone called me. I go upstairs and you can see every tree is down in the backyard," Sussex resident David Manyo said. "One hit the neighbor's house; I got one in the garage right into the roof. Yeah, it was wicked, there was probably 40 trees out back there.”
