Rain and snow return Wednesday

NOW: Rain and snow return Wednesday
NEXT:

Some light snow showers and a few pockets of flurries flew through southeast Wisconsin Monday morning. A few locations reported a dusting of snow up to a half inch. Milwaukee officially saw a half inch at the airport pushing our season snow total to 30.3" which is below both last year and well below the seasonal average. While we could still get some snow this season, I doubt we get anywhere close to that average number.

The next round of precipitation arrives Wednesday. The morning commute looks mostly dry but by mid-morning we could start to see some rain showers rolling in. Those likely eventually mix with some snow and eventually turn to all snow.

Regardless, a soaking rain is expected for most of southeast Wisconsin with a quarter to half inch of rain possible.

The time when that switchover from rain to snow happens will heavily determine how much snow we pick up but some snow accumulation is possible. Right now anywhere from just a dusting to over an inch of snow is possible. This will be a very slushy snow with most accumulating on grassy surfaces but roads staying just wet.
