MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- In Milwaukee, people gathered at O'Donnell Park downtown to rally in support of Ukraine on Saturday, Feb. 24.
It was hosted by Wisconsin Ukrainians, and the even drew dozens of supporters, including Mayor Cavalier Johnson.
Yesterday, the mayor issued a proclamation standing with the war-torn nation and Ukraine here at home.
Organizers say they hope the US will send critical aid soon.
"It seems to be that the help we need right now, its military aid, its blocked by Congress and we are truly hoping that the bill will pass, and we will get the help we were promised," said Halyna Salapata, president of Wisconsin Ukrainians.
