MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Reckless driving has led to an effort to keep pedestrians safe on Brady Street on Thursday, Sept. 21.
Keeping pedestrians safe is the goal for the Crosswalk Actions events, created by Alderman Johnathan Brostoff, where volunteers hold signs and help people cross the street safely.
During last week's Crosswalk Actions demonstration, volunteers told us they even had a few close calls during the event, and today was not much different.
"As we've been trying to cross as a group with our signs, we've had to step back a few times as cars did not stop," said Alice Bieszczat a volunteer at the event.
"We should all be able to cross the street or to walk down the sidewalk safely, and not be injured," said Bieszczat.
The next Crosswalk Action event will be next Thursday, Sept. 28, at the intersection of Brady and Arlington.
