Republican Party of Wisconsin elects Brian Schimming as new chairman

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Republican Party of Wisconsin has announced the election of a new chairman.

Brian Schimming was unanimously elected to the position at a Saturday, Dec. 10 Executive Committee meeting in Stevens Point, according to a press release from the party.

The release quotes Schimming as saying that his 30 years working alongside activists in grassroots campaigns in Wisconsin has been an honor, but that he is ready to take the party reigns prior to the Feb. 2023 primary election, including the seat of conservative Justice Patience Roggensack who is not running for reelection.

" ... I look forward to working side by side with the thousands of grassroots leaders in this state to win Wisconsin for the Republican presidential candidate and elect a conservative to the state Supreme Court. There’s not a moment to waste."

Former Chairman Paul Farrow expressed confidence in handing the gavel to Schimming, saying, " ... I know he’ll do an outstanding job of directing the state party through a presidential campaign while our state hosts a national convention. We couldn’t have a better leader at this important time."

Schimming assumes the role immediately.
