'Rockit': Herbie Hancock bringing decades of jazz mastery to Milwaukee concert
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Pabst Theater will soon host a celebrated musical legend, bringing a unique blend of jazz and contemporary sounds to the city.
Herbie Hancock, a renowned jazz pianist and composer, will perform in Milwaukee on Tuesday, April 2, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the concert beginning at 8 p.m.
Hancock's career spans over seven decades, with an innovative approach that has been a part of the Miles Davis Quintet and his record-breaking albums like "Headhunters." His work has offered a unique blend of jazz with funk and rock.
He is most often celebrated for his compositions such as "Cantaloupe Island," "Watermelon Man," "Maiden Voyage" and "Chameleon," as well as his 1980s hit "Rockit," which remains a pop milestone in his career.
The scope of Hancock's achievements is evident in his accolades. He has been honored with an Academy Award for Best Original Score for "Round Midnight" in 1986 and 14 Grammy Awards.
