WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Sam's Club locations in West Allis and Madison have temporarily closed in advance of a permanent closure. Signs outside of the store in West Allis says that the store is closed Thursday, January 11 and then will re-open on Friday with reduced hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Both stores will close for good on January 26.
According to employees, Sam's Club has offered to pay double time for people to stay and work through the end of January while they get rid of their inventory.
Communications for Walmart, which owns Sam's Club, says the company is focusing on e-commerce and remodeling and reinvesting in technology.
Sam's Club is working with employees at both locations to transfer them to other Sam's Club or Walmart locations if they wish.
Business Insider has also confirmed that Sam's Clubs in Waukesha and Franklin are also closing.
