February goes into the records warm and dry
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- City leaders are calling on lawmakers to green light a plan that would bring red light cameras to Milwaukee.
They're banned under current state law, but a new bill is looking to clear a path for a pilot program in Milwaukee.
If passed, it would include a number of notable limits. That includes public notice of where cameras will be set up, and measures that target specific drivers and information.
"These cameras will only be activated if you are speeding 15 miles over the speed limit, first and foremost, and is only seeing, capturing the data on your license plate," said State Senator Dora Drake (D-Milwaukee). "So, there is no facial recognition included in this legislation."
A Senate committee is set to discuss the bill in a special hearing in Milwaukee.
That's set for 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, Oct. 7.
