WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Reproductive rights was the focus of a roundtable held on Saturday, May 11, by US Senator Tammy Baldwin.
The senator is running for another term in Washington.
She was joined by Wisconsin's Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez and the leader of the group of Reproductive Freedom for All.
Baldwin is the lead author of the 'Women's Health Protection Act' which would cement access to abortion in federal law.
"We're talking about the freedom to start a family and the freedom to decide, especially in a crisis, to seek the health care that they need," said Baldwin.
"Women in Wisconsin want to hear from other women in Wisconsin about their personal stories, that telling their stories and talking about their pregnancy experiences is a really important way to explain the stakes in the election," said Mini Timmaraju, President of Reproductive Freedom for All.
Senator Baldwin is also calling for federal laws giving women the right to contraception and fertility treatments.
CBS 58 reached out to the Wisconsin Republican Party and top state Republican's offices for comments on Senator Baldwin's proposals but have not heard back.
