Sendik’s to become first retail outlet for Friendship Bakery, products will be made by bakers with special needs
MILWAUKEE COUNTY (CBS 58) -- Sendik's Food Markets has announced that they will become the first retail outlet for Friendship Bakery.
Beginning June 14th, Sendik's in Mequon will sell Friendship Bakery challah bread, rolls, and crinkle chocolate cookies.
According to a release from Sendik's, Friendship Bakery aims to empower individuals with special needs by challenging them to take on
responsibilities of creating and baking delicious baked goods. The bakery was started to address a vocational education gap that occurs for high school graduates with disabilities. Many of these graduates have limited employment options consisting of a narrow range of tasks or community participation programs. Friendship Bakery provides an outstanding alternative.
To kick off the first day of the partnership, Friendship Bakery bakers will be at Sendik’s Mequon on Thursday,
June 14th from 3-5pm providing free samples and interacting with customers.
