WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- A big donation to help put food on the table for area families this Thanksgiving.
Thanks to the generosity of customers and associates, Sendik's food markets were able to donate more than 400,000 meals to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin Tuesday, Nov. 16.
Included are general food staples, as well as Thanksgiving items such as gravy, green beans and potatoes.
"We're very excited to be able to do this today," said Margaret Harris of Sendik's food markets. "We're donating many, many types of items, especially Thanksgiving items, that will help put beautiful meals on Wisconsin plates this year."
After 14 years of teaming up with Feeding America, Sendik's and its customers have now donated more than one-million pounds of food to the organization.
