Several people rescued after barn roof collapses in Mequon

MEQUON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Multiple people needed rescuing after a roof of a barn collapsed in Mequon on Monday morning, April 13. 

The incident happened on West County Line Road around 10 a.m.

According to the Southern Ozaukee Fire Department, responding crews located several people who were injured outside the barn and learned three people were trapped inside beneath debris. 

The victims were extricated and a total of seven people were transported to area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to serious. 

“This was a challenging rescue operation that required coordination between multiple agencies,” said Southern Ozaukee Fire Department Chief David Bialk. “Thanks to the rapid response and teamwork, all trapped individuals were safely removed.”

The cause of the barn collapse is under investigation.
