Severe threat shifting south for Tuesday

Thankfully some good news regarding the severe forecast for Tuesday.  Over the last 24 hours the models have trended further south with instability across the Midwest, and that means the best severe threat will stay across Illinois on Tuesday.

Scattered showers and storms will develop across southeastern Wisconsin during the late morning into the early afternoon.  These storms should be elevated, so the overall risk for strong to severe storms will be minor.  Storms that become surfaced based should stay across central and northern Illinois.

As you can see with the graphic above, there remains a marginal risk for strong to severe storms right along the border.  Storms that stay close to the border will have the best chance for hail and damaging winds.  The overall tornado threat will most likely stay out of our area.

This forecast could shift, so please check back to the blog over the next 12 hours for additional updates.
