MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead near 37th and Clarke. 

Officials confirm that the victim, a 49-year-old, was fatally shot and pronounced dead at the scene around 1:42 a.m. early Monday morning.

He was identified by the medical examiner's office as Damon Bates.
