Shooting near Cudahy elementary school causes morning delay

CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Cudahy school had a delayed start on Thursday, Oct. 24 due to a shooting nearby. 

The shooting happened near Packard and Iona Terrace around 5 a.m. 

According to the Cudahy Police Department, they received multiple calls to the area for a shooting. Due to its close proximity to the J.E. Jones Elementary School, school district officials were notified, and a notification went out to parents that school would be delayed. 

Police say the investigation revealed that one of the callers was a 25-year-old man from West Allis, who said he had been shot. 

Prior to the shots being fired, the 25-year-old was intentionally damaging a vehicle at this location, according to police. The vehicle owner, a 21-year-old man from Milwaukee, intentionally shot his gun multiple times.

Police say that the incident was domestic violence related, and the 25-year-old was reportedly stalking a Cudahy woman. 

Charges for both men are being referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office. 

J.E. Jones Elementary was given the all clear at 7:45 a.m.
