Shorewood officer injured during chase, single-car crash on Milwaukee's north side
CBS 58 SHOREWOOD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Shorewood police are investigating a pursuit and a single-car crash early Wednesday morning, June 24.
Police attempted a traffic stop on a car near Estabrook Pwky and E. Capitol before the car fled the scene, initiating a chase. The pursuit ended when the pursued car crashed near W. Capitol and N. Port Washington Rd.
Multiple people fled the car on foot, evading capture, but two stayed on scene and were arrested. A search of the car recovered a firearm and marijuana.
One Shorewood police officer was injured in the pursuit and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The officer has since been released and no other injuries have been reported.
Police have identified the driver of the car, and the incident is being investigated.
Formal charges are being referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
