Sixteenth Street Community Health Center's Bike Day gives away 500 bikes

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers once again hosted its annual community wellness event, Sixteenth Street Bike Day, on Saturday, June 18.

The goal of Sixteenth Street Bike Day is to promote an active lifestyle and encourage families to be active together. A main highlight of Sixteenth Street Bike Day is giving out hundreds of bikes, helmets, and locks to children in the community.

The event included COVID-19 vaccines, bike safety demonstrations, healthy food, Zumba classes, Salsa dancing, music, and more.

As one might imagine, free bikes rode off into the sunrise early in the event, though the community celebration is scheduled to continue until 2:00 p.m.

CBS 58 and Telemundo's own Victor Jacobo and Alejandra Palacios were emcees at the event today.
