Special Olympics Wisconsin to host its largest ever bowling tournament
WESTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Special Olympics Wisconsin is set to host its largest bowling tournament at Dale's Weston Lanes in suburban Wausau on Saturday, Dec. 2, and Sunday, Dec. 3.
Over 1,000 athletes who have secured top positions in their respective Regional League play will compete in various categories, including singles, doubles, team and ramp competitions. The tournament also features Unified Doubles and Unified Team competitions, scheduled for Sunday.
Alongside the sports events, the SOWI Health Team will offer health screenings and activities. On Saturday, the Healthy Athletes program will provide sports physicals, hearing and dental screenings. A Performance Station, aimed at enhancing athletes' performance, is scheduled for Sunday.
A press release from SOWI notes that volunteers play a crucial role in the success of the tournament, with opportunities still available for individuals and groups interested in contributing to the event. Online registration for volunteers is open until Friday, Dec. 1. Additionally, walk-up volunteers are welcome during the tournament days.
