MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Port Milwaukee became exempt from a $1.5 million fee which was a part of a federal investigation of Chinese-built ships.
Monday, June 16, county officials gathered to pay homage to the port and celebrate the financial victory.
The event highlighted the port's role as a community asset, supporting job creation and driving economic growth.
State Rep. Gwen Moore took the podium expressing her hopes that fair trading continues to grow in Milwaukee.
"While we have this victory to celebrate today, it's important that we continue to move forward to remove all the barriers to trade that it won't hurt our businesses, our farmers and our tourism," said Moore.
Moore also highlight the importance of continuing a healthy trade relationship with Canada, who took in almost $8 billion from Wisconsin exports.
