ST. FRANCIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Any tool that helps firefighters do their jobs faster and with improved safety is definitely a welcome addition.
On Tuesday, July 28, the St. Francis Fire Department demonstrated a new tool called the Fire TKO.
It's essentially a small, portable block that can be thrown into a burning room and effectively extinguish a fire.
It's easier to use than traditional fire hoses and it's much safer as well.
"I mean it's incredible, you know, to see a relatively modern amount of fire volume within 30-45 seconds to be almost totally extinguished," said Chief Nicholas Poplar. "It was exciting to see."
The FBI Milwaukee Citizen's Academy Alumni Association sponsored the event.
St. Francis and many other Milwaukee-area fire departments are going home with one of the devices Tuesday as well.
