Church of the Gesu back open and ready for Christmas Mass crowds
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Downtown Milwaukee was noticeably busy with thousands of people in the area on Saturday.
Several events took place, including the 53rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
"It has kind of a carnival-like atmosphere down here,” said Steve Helfer.
The parade wasn’t the only event attracting many to the area, making it quite hectic.
Some of the same parade-goers also attended the Marquette Men's Basketball game at Fiserv Forum, just blocks away from the parade route.
Both big events and the road closures, made finding a parking spot difficult.
Some say they planned ahead. "We picked a time, we said we should be here by like 20/30 minutes before,” said a parade attendee.
In addition, the Milwaukee Wave and the Milwaukee Admirals both held games at UW-M Panther Arena, contributing to the congestion.
Big crowds filled the streets of downtown well into the night. It was also game day at home for the Bucks.
