St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store marks 2-year anniversary with week-long deals despite minor building damage
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- St. Vincent de Paul is celebrating two years of its thrift store on 76th and Bradley. All week long, they're offering deals from 50 percent off furniture to 25 percent off clothes. Below is a list of what deals they're offering each day.
The celebration comes as the organization suffers a minor setback. On Saturday, the driver of a car that is believed to have been trying to park outside of the store, accidentally accelerated crashing into the building and damaging a wall.
"We just have to do some masonry work, and we should be back to normal. We’re just really lucky nobody got hurt," said Ross Tessmer, the store manager.
One person inside was hit, but they suffered minor injuries and did not need any medical attention.
Tessmer says the business didn't have to close at all because of the crash. That means there was no impact to the thousands who utilize the voucher program for free furniture and clothing.
"In the last quarter, we have given out $70,000 worth of vouchers, over that, actually, just at this location in Milwaukee," said Tessmer.
The thrift store is open for all to shop. They sell everything from clothing to collectibles and even furniture.
"Anything that comes through our donations we price, put out on the floor, and that includes stuff like furniture, older items, stuff that a lot of other thrift stores nowadays either throw away or they don’t accept," said Tessmer.
The sales are only being offered at the 76th and Bradley location.
