MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The state Supreme Court is now officially the most expensive in U.S history.
Nearly $19 million has poured into the high stakes election between Milwaukee County Judge Janet Protasiewicz and former conservative Supreme Court Justice Dan Kelly, according to a tally by WisPolitics.
About half of that, $9.2 million, was spent leading up to the Feb. 21 primary. As of Tuesday, more than $9.4 million was funneled into the race supporting both campaigns, WisPolitics reported.
The previous record was set in 2004 when $15 million was spent during an Illinois race.
