MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Floodwaters rose quickly on city streets Tuesday night, after heavy storms hit southeast Wisconsin.
Cars on Milwaukee's north side were seen stuck in water as levels continued to rise.
The rain has been coming down steadily for hours and is quickly overwhelming draining systems.
Officials are urging people to avoid driving through the flooded areas as it can quickly become a dangerous situation.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office says they closed several lanes on freeways Tuesday night due to flooding, with squads out with emergency lights and flares. They say drivers continued to speed past them.
They said in part, "People need to drive accordingly, or crashes will occur and people could get hurt."
