Sweet Treasures in Muskego serves up a double scoop of nostalgia
MUSKEGO, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Sweet Treasures in Muskego serves up a double scoop of nostalgia as a traditional ice cream parlor and antique shop in one. Mindy Farrell, the co-owner of Sweet Treasures, says she has always had a love for old collectibles since living next door to her grandparents as a kid. Now, it's the interactions between young and old that melt her heart.
"I had a 101-year-old gentleman come in here the other day, and he was having such a blast talking to his 85-year-old friend, so it was really fun to watch two people talk about something they haven't seen in a long time," said Farrell.
While some reminisce on things of the past and look back at their childhood, others are making their childhood. With 16 flavors, it's the place to go for a dipped cone of blue moon or birthday cake ice cream.
One of Sweet Treasures' goals as a business is to support other local Wisconsin entrepreneurs. All of the Ice cream sold at the parlor is made in Madison. Sweet Treasures also has a selection of baked goods from local businesses on the shelves. Right now, you'll also find a fundraiser for local Milwaukee Police Officer Kendall Corder who was killed in the line of duty.
"We have blue moon ice cream, and I made blue ice cream cones so, donating a dollar to every purchase of that will go to Kendall Corder's family. Just wanted to do something for them," said Farrell.
Sweet Treasures is open seven days a week.
