MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Monday, Feb. 16, was free lunch day at Marquette University, at least for a bunch of students.
For half an hour, students at Alumni Memorial Union got their lunch paid for by the Golden Eagles basketball team.
"This is my fifth year here. I remember the first year, I think we were doing it in masks," said head coach Shaka Smart.
Smart has been part of this for years. They call it "Swipes with Shaka."
Not only do the students get a free meal, but they get to chat with and even pose for pictures with the team.
"It's always good energy here," Smart said. "I think the Marquette students, more so than any student body I've been around, has good vibes, good energy, care about each other. They're always awesome at our games."
It's no secret the Golden Eagles have had a rough basketball season, but they've won their last three home games, and they'll be back in front of their students Wednesday night for a game against St. John's.
