Ted Cruz announces he's running for president

Republican Senator Ted Cruz makes it official. He announced his candidacy for president of The United States via Twitter just after Midnight Monday morning.
He wrote\" I'm running for president and I hope to earn your support!\" He also posted a 30 second video message pledging to lead the fight to \"help make America great again.\"
Cruz is the first candidate to formally throw his hat into the ring for what's expected to be a very crowded race for the GOP nomination. More than a dozen high-profile Republicans have expressed serious interest in a White House run, including Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.
Cruz's announcement comes ahead of his speech at Liberty University in Virginia where he was set to officially declare his 2016 presidential run.
