Tenant charged with attempted arson at Ascent Milwaukee apartments sentenced to probation

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man who pleaded guilty to attempted arson learned his fate on Friday, Aug. 23. 

A judge sentenced Enrique Torres to four years probation for an incident that happened on June 11, 2023. 

Authorities say Torres lived on the 24th floor of the Ascent Milwaukee apartment building, located on Kilbourn Avenue. He reportedly placed three aerosol cans inside a pot and put the pot in an over and turned it on. Torres then fled the building. 

According to a criminal complaint, smoke filled the apartment and caused approximately $2,000 in damage.

In court Friday, Torres changed his plea to guilty and was sentenced to probation.
