MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee County has a new plan to get rid of "Deep Thought," the boat that's been stranded near Bradford Beach for months.
Milwaukee County Supervisor Sheldon Wasserman came down to the site and told us Jerry's Silo Marina, which has been trying to get the boat out since last week, has failed.
In fact, one of their rafts is now stuck there as well.
Wasserman says Jerry's will be able to salvage the raft, but the county will turn to someone else to remove "Deep Thought."
"We are going to hire a company working off the land to be able to pull this boat out next week," said Wasserman. "We're shooting for Tuesday, depending on the weather. But this boat has got to go."
Wasserman says the cost for the newly hired company to remove the boat is $50,000.
Milwaukee County will put up that money, but Wasserman says they will try to get reimbursed.
He's worried about people drowning or falling in, and he's worried about other boats getting stuck as the weather gets warmer.
