MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — Crews battled a three-alarm fire at a five-story warehouse on Milwaukee's south side Tuesday morning.
According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, the call came in around 7 a.m. near 8th Street and Cleveland Avenue. The building was unoccupied and primarily used for storage.
Fire officials said workers at a nearby business reported the blaze.
“Once they got up to the third floor, they realized there was a heavy amount of fire, so we retreated from the building and decided to fight the fire from the outside of the building,” said Assistant Chief Darin Peterburs. “That was the only safe way to do it at that time.”
The fire was brought under control with assistance from surrounding fire departments.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
