TOWN OF PALMYRA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A sepia photograph of Sara and Louis Nowak, laughing as they gaze into each other's eyes, paints the perfect picture of their love story.

"A true match," Patricia Cartwright, Sara Nowak's mother, said.

The Nowaks were blissfully married for nearly six years.

"Where one was, the other one was. What the other one didn't think of, the other one did," Cartwright said.

With six kids between the two, the Nowaks spent a lot of time camping, traveling and just being with one another.

"Her house was never full, because there was always room for one more," Cartwright said.

Nowak's mother and father, Randal Cartwright, told CBS 58 the past six months had been hard.

Louis Nowak was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.

"He fought, he fought really hard," Cartwright said.

The Cartwrights said their daughter remained positive through all of the pain.

"Whenever there was something that somebody needed, she said, 'Don't worry we got this,'" Cartwright said.

Nowak lost his battle on March 19.

"I don't think she could be without him," Patricia Cartwright said. "So, she is with him."

Hours after burying the love of her life, Sara Nowak was killed in a car crash.

"It's really hard because you get done and then five and a half hours later, you get a call saying that your daughter was in an accident," Randal Cartwright said.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said its preliminary investigation found the driver lost control and flipped in a ditch near STH 106 and Calkins Road in the Town of Palmyra on April 1.

Both people in the car were declared dead on the scene. Nowak was the passenger.

"We want everyone to remember her as being full of life," Patricia Cartwright said.

There's now a missing piece in family photos Nowak was so proud to share, but her family said their memories will forever be cherished.

The Nowaks' six kids have a strong support system behind them.

A family friend created a GoFundMe page to help them get through this time. Donations can be made here.
