MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- According to Milwaukee police, late Saturday night, the 14-year-old boy died of injuries following the shooting.

Currently, no suspects are in custody.

Neighbors say it's just another tragic incident that should have never happened,

"Well, what I heard was shots fired, and they weren't consistent. There was some space of time in between," said Trina, a woman who lives nearby.

She says she and her adult daughter listened closely after hearing the initial shots.

"And she thought she heard people arguing, but it was in a distance. And that's when we heard that third shot," said Trina.

Shortly, police were in the alley behind Trina's house.

"I asked [a police officer] was anybody hurt? And that's when he told me it was two children," said Trina.

She says right before this all happened, she almost asked her grandson to take out the trash but decided not to.

"He's 10," said Trina, "and it could have been him just caught just because he's going to do a chore."

She says her thoughts and prayers are with the parents of the two boys, especially the one who passed away.

"I wouldn't know what to do. I really hope she has a strong support system and people around her right now," said Trina.

She says for her and everyone else in the city, they're tired of anyone, but especially young people, settling arguments like this.

"I don't know what it was, but it didn't have to end like this," said Trina.

Her question is, how does Milwaukee, as a community, start changing so things like this don't happen to young people?

"It's about what's going on in the city. Each community, what is wrong? What's really wrong? That this is what we're turning to," said Trina.

Police are asking the public to come forward if they have any information regarding the shooting by calling (414) 935-7360.
