Upcoming local events with VISIT Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Even though summer may be winding down, the events in Milwaukee are heating up. Ian Thompson, Senior Communications Manager for VISIT Milwaukee, sat down with Mike Curkov on the CBS 58 morning show to detail some upcoming opportunities.
1. The Wisconsin State Fair - The Wisconsin State Fair kicks off Aug. 3, 2023 for its 172nd year.
2. Black Cat Rising concert series - Every Thursday evening now through Sept. 14, Crossroads Collective is hosting a free concert series at Black Cat Alley. Food and drinks available as well.
3. Black Arts Fest MKE - Happening this weekend from Noon until 10:00 PM at the Summerfest grounds, this festival is a celebration of the deep roots of African heritage and creativity of cultural arts. With arts, education, dancing, music, entertainment, and poetry -- there is something for everyone to enjoy of all ages.
4. Caribbean Festival 2023 - On Saturday, Aug. 5, this festival highlights every country that makes up the Carribean and Latin American countries as well. There will be live entertainment and multiple vendors. This one-day festival is taking place in the Walkers Point neighborhood.
5. Lakeside at the Milwaukee Art Museum -- Aug. 12, 13, and 19th there will be a variety of artistic activities including live art making, DJs, yoga, meditation, and dance classes. This is a weather permitting event so be sure to check out the Milwaukee Art Museum website for updates.
