MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- U.S. Attorney Matt Krueger, Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul, and DEA Assistant Special Agent in Charge Paul Maxwell will be speaking at a press conference Thursday about a "significant law enforcement operation."
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, it is connected to a raid that took place Wednesday morning near 9th and Walker as part of a drug trafficking investigation involving shipments of cocaine from Puerto Rico to Milwaukee.
According to a criminal complaint, 26 people were involved.
The investigation started in September 2018 after the U.S. Postal Service intercepted packages with cocaine originating from Puerto Rico and heading to homes in Milwaukee.
The complaint says those involved would get cocaine from Puerto Rico, keep it in storage facilities for further distribution by local distributors in Milwaukee, collect drug proceeds, and mail the proceeds back to Puerto Rico.
The press conference Thursday will start at 9 a.m. CBS 58 will be streaming that online.
